Cyber-defense in the US of A.

In mid-August we were greeted with the news that the USAF "cyber-command" was being shut down.  In typical government fashion, they decided to wait until they were just about ready to go live before reaching a negative conclusion.

"The Air Force is about to suspend its controversial effort to reorganize its forces to "dominate" cyberspace. The provisional, 8,000-man Cyber Command has been ordered to stop all activities, just weeks before it was supposed to be declared operational."

And now we know why.  Rather than give it to .mil, the fat juicy mandate (and funding) will be going to the friendly neighborhood DHS

I know the flyboys have had a few screw-ups lately, but I'd much rather have people in the hot seat who have at least taken the following oath:

"I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

As opposed to a bureaucracy that attempted to install some unknown oath of secrecy in late 2004.  The secrecy oath was struck down quickly but still... who would you rather have running the show?  And how much safer do you feel knowing who will?
